Tuscan Dairy Whole Vitamin D Milk review
Amazon
reviewers are typically targeting other customers to give them their opinions
and advice for a product. This could be a range of all sorts of people but
depending on the products (much like genre for novels) the reviewers target
more specifically to some people than others like baby products for mothers.
Usually customer review incorporates a lot of flaws or praise for the products,
an anecdote as evidence, and a final rating on the product. They also can be short
and to the point with glaring flaw or its greatness.
However,
a review for Tuscan Dairy While Vitamin D Milk (and a few others) did not
appeal in the same way as other reviews. Instead, the author told a funny story
about his experience taking the milk carton through the TSA. Regardless if it
was a true story or not, the target audience was definitely the same as a
regular reviewer but achieving a different purpose. He chose to entertain
people to exemplify how good the milk is to him. Comparatively, his review
borders on the line with comedy instead of review but his story does provide
his love for the milk, which does provide an opinion, something that reviews
are there for. His story culminates with him saying “I drank the entire gallon of Tuscan Whole Milk that I had
purchased on Amazon.com while the people behind me grew increasingly inpatient. It was delicious.” This statement
shows his thoughts about the milk, interwoven in the funny story that he told.

Good use of a concrete example (baby products for mothers) to help you describe the possible audiences and purpose of an Amazon product review.
ReplyDeleteI want to push you to rethink about whether the target audience was the same in your chosen review as it is for other more typical Amazon reviews. While you are correct in writing that the reviewer mentions what he thought of the milk's taste (which falls in line with a typical review), you also write that the review seeks to achieve "a different purpose." Does this slightly alter the audience then - does the review still target the same audience as other reviews?
You give a good example to support your claim, however.
